EPISODE 5

Molly Smith, Co-Host of Little Sister Radio Show on WBER, Berea, Ky

Feminism, miscarriage, grief, Appalachia, body shaming, nevertrumpin’, & all of it as two friends sit on the shore of a secret swimming hole, gazing at the Appalachian foothills.
RAINBOW’s chat with Molly Smith, heard here, is the very first unedited interview in MFTRSP history.

RAINBOW and Molly met as a result of an invitation for R. to come on Molly and Amy Harmon’s ‘Little Sister Radio Show,’ a brilliant hour of feminist talk & spinning female musicians’ tracks. Molly greeted R. with thoughtful handmade gifts from local shops, and the friendship was instantly sealed.

Molly is a Prospect Research Analyst at Berea College, was valedictorian in high school, and she loves cooking, reading, comedy, pub quiz shows, the Great British Bakeoff, swimming, cartwheels, writing, and pretty much just being able to do anything with friends. Other than ice skating. Molly hates ice skating.
It hurts.

  • Everything You Need To Know About Miscarriage” Stats on the high prevalence of miscarriage, a pervasively, perniciously taboo topic that affects 1 in 5 recognized pregnancies, therefore, many women, and can be utterly devastating to those who experience it

Dumplin’” is the Netflix film inspired by Dolly Parton that Molly mentions, about the pressure on women to look a certain way
The outro song on this episode – probably the saddest damn song R’s ever written, but one of her faves… and Molly’s fave from this album <3
